LEARN MORE ABOUT CAMP PALESTINE

In 2024, the People’s Center for Palestine and organizers from Sawa Socal met to discuss how to bring awareness about Palestine to young Palestinians living in California. What emerged from this meeting was Camp Palestine.

OUR CURRICULUM & APPROACH

This current generation of Palestinian youth in the diaspora is growing up in a post–genocide context in which Palestine is increasingly present in mainstream public discourse, media, and even educational spaces. At the same time, their experiences learning about Palestine remain highly uneven. Many Palestinian children and youth in the far diaspora primarily encounter their history, identity, and culture through family, social media, or independent self-initiative, often without structured or sustained educational frameworks. It is commonplace that deeper engagement with Palestinian history and confidence in national identity develops later in life, particularly during adolescence or university years.

Our curriculum is grounded in instilling within Palestinian youth confidence and responsibility in their identity. We do this through collective and interactive learning focused on Palestine’s geography, history, key concepts, and current conditions. .
